Webster Financial Corp. in Waterbury, Conn., has hired a former top executive at NewAlliance Bancshares as its chief financial officer.

The $18 billion-asset Webster said Tuesday that Glenn MacInnes has joined it as executive vice president and CFO, reporting to Jerry Plush, the vice chairman and chief operating officer. Plush, who had been Webster's CFO since July 2006, was promoted to his current positions in January.
MacInnes was CFO at NewAlliance from November 2009 until April, when the New Haven, Conn., company was sold to First Niagara Financial Group Inc. of Buffalo, N.Y. Before that he worked at Citigroup Inc. for 11 years.
