Global CLO Issuance Picks Up

Global issuance of collateralized loan obligations is at $5 billion via 13 deals for the year to date through July 15, according to Dealogic.

That’s more than double the $2.3 billion issued via 15 deals during the same period of 2010, but still dramatically below the issuance of $77.9 billion — issued via 161 deals — during the same period of 2007. U.S. issuance accounted for 92% of the total; the remainder was issued in Japan and South Korea.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch leads the global CLO bookrunner rankings with 52.5% market share, followed by Morgan Stanley with 23.3%, and Citigroup with 10.7%.
