Go Daddy, First Data Partner on Service for Small Businesses

Go Daddy will implement First Data Corp.'s technology to provide online payments processing services to small businesses.

By combining the new Go Daddy Payment Solutions product with its domain name registration and Web hosting services, the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based company said it will offer a single-source vendor for merchants to launch a website with digital shopping cart and online payment acceptance.

"Go Daddy's main focus is to help small businesses get bigger without investing a lot of time, money or energy," stated Neil Proctor, senior director of development at Go Daddy, in a Jan. 23 press release. "First Data's payment processing gives Go Daddy customers the chance to quickly enable credit card payments online, expanding their revenue growth opportunities exponentially."

Go Daddy's user base includes nearly 11 million customers and its platform manages more than 54 million domain names and hosts more than 5 million websites.

Atlanta-based processor First Data conducted a recent survey of small merchants that showed nearly half believe the use of new payment and marketing technologies is important to stay competitive. Of the merchants surveyed, 86% reported having a website and almost half offer online shopping.
