Gonzalez asks 22% rise for Ginnie Mae.

WASHINGTON - Rep. Henry Gonzalez, chairman of the House Banking Committee, introduced a bill to increase by nearly $20 billion the fiscal 1993 commitment authority for the Government National Mortage Association.

The Texas Democrat's bill would increase Ginnie Mae's authority for guarantees of mortgage-backed securities in the current fiscal year by about 22%, to $107.7 billion from $88 billion.

The measure would also increase the Federal Housing Administration's commitment authority for mortgage insurance to $92.1 billion in fiscal 1993, from $65.1 billion.
