"The landscape of the banking industry is rapidly changing. This conference offers us a way to look back at what has happened — and predict where regulators are going to go next," said Rob Blackwell, American Banker's Washington Bureau Chief and co-chairman of the event.

The 2nd Annual American Banker Regulatory Symposium will be held Sept. 13-14 at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in Arlington, VA. Headlining the event is FDIC Acting Chair Martin Gruenberg, who is likely to address top of mind regulatory topics like living wills and how his agency is tackling "too big to fail."

Also offering keynote remarks will be Rep. Scott Garret (R-NJ) who, as Chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Government-Sponsored Enterprises, has promised to "spearhead efforts to correct the most misguided provisions of Dodd-Frank."

PNC CEO Jim Rohr will offer his thoughts on the industry and regulation, as regional banks like PNC are likely to be hardest hit by the new Basel III capital requirements that are being phased in starting in 2013.

Additionally, American Banker Editor-at-Large Barbara A. Rehm will host an exclusive one-on-one Q&A session with Thomas Hoenig, a director at the FDIC and former president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, one of the most outspoken proponents of breaking up the big banks.
