Haier New York Life Insurance Co. Ltd., a Shanghai joint venture of New York Life Insurance Co. and Haier Group of China, named Xiaoxia Zhao as its new president and chief executive officer.
The appointment was announced Monday and was approved by China's Insurance Regulatory Commission on March 13.
Mr. Zhao has more than 20 years of management experience in the property/casualty, broker, and life insurance industry. He has held senior positions in various international divisions of People's Insurance Company of China, and he founded Huatai Insurance Brokers, one of the first insurance agencies and joint venture brokers in China. Most recently he was director of the board and executive vice president for Axa-Minmetals Assurance Co. Ltd.
He is a director of the China Insurance Association and China Insurance Institution, as well as director of the Shanghai Insurance Association.
Haier New York Life was established in 2002. In addition to Shanghai, it is now in eight cities: Chengdu, Qingdao, Nanjing, Deyang, Yantai, Suzhou, Wuxi, and Changzhou.
