Hanover CFO Resigns

Hanover Insurance Group Inc. in Worcester, Mass., has announced the resignation, for personal reasons, of its chief financial officer, John J. Leahy, who had assumed the post Aug. 31.

The company said Mr. Leahy, who was also an executive vice president, resigned for personal reasons, effective immediately.

Mr. Leahy succeeded Edward J. Parry 3rd, who elected to leave the company Aug. 31, after 15 years with it, to pursue other career opportunities. Mr. Leahy joined Hanover after working at PepsiCo. Inc. and Keane Inc., a Boston business and information technology services firm.

Hanover said in a press release that it has begun to search for a successor. It appointed its chief executive officer, Frederick H. Eppinger, to be acting chief financial officer and Warren E. Barnes to be the acting principal accounting officer. Mr. Barnes has been a vice president and the corporate controller since 1997 and is on the company's operating committee.

Hanover is the holding company for a group of insurers that includes Hanover Insurance Co., also based in Worcester; Citizens Insurance Co. of America in Howell, Mich.; and their affiliates.
