Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. promoted Dan Brown to executive vice president of sales and distribution for its property and casualty insurance operations.

Mr. Brown, who has been with the Simsbury, Conn., company since 1989, had been senior vice president and division manager for the property and casualty operation's central division.
He started his new job on Tuesday, the insurance company announced.
Hartford had revenue of $26.5 billion last year.
