Heartland in Pact with Restaurant Group

Heartland Payment Systems Inc. is offering transaction processing and other payments services to members of the National Restaurant Association.

The Washington trade group said this week that it is endorsing Heartland's Full Course Business Solutions service, which includes card processing, check services, payroll, tip reporting and compliance reports.

Restaurants using Heartland's services need not purchase new terminals, but have the option to do so.

The agreement will also help Heartland evaluate its products, "to help guide us on how to structure those offerings to fit the financial needs of restaurants across the country," according to a representative of the Princeton, N.J., processor.

In 2008, restaurants represented 30% of Heartland's transaction volume.

The National Restaurant Association says its members operate 954,000 locations.
