On Sept. 15, the capital markets subcommittee plans to continue to examine the future of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac with a hearing on the GSEs. Slated to testify are Michael Barr, the assistant Treasury secretary for financial institutions, and Edward DeMarco, the acting director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
A day later, the full committee has planned a hearing on the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Freedom of Information Act.
On Sept. 22, the panel plans to examine the Federal Housing Administration in the morning.
In the afternoon, the financial institutions subcommittee is planning a hearing on the Fair Access to Credit Scores Act from Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., that would simplify consumer access to credit scores.
In the following weeks, the panel is planning hearings on executive compensation, Basel and issues facing mutual banks.
