HSBC Holdings PLC has announced senior management appointments within  the HSBC Group. 
Aman Mehta has been appointed deputy chairman of the British Bank of the  Middle East, to be based in Dubai, effective Oct. 30. Mr. Mehta is   currently chairman and chief executive of HSBC Holdings Inc., New York.   
  
Mr. Mehta will be succeeded by James H. Cleave, who has been named chief  executive, HSBC Americas Inc. Mr. Cleave will retain his current   responsibilities as president and chief executive of Marine Midland Bank,   Buffalo. His appointment is also effective Oct. 30.     
Mr. Mehta will divide his time between HSBC Americas' head office in New  York and that of Marine Midland in Buffalo. 
  
Colin Bamford, currently chief executive of HongKongBank Japan, has been  appointed senior executive vice president, HSBC Americas Inc., effective   Nov. 12. As was announced in February, Mr. Bamford will be succeeded in   Japan by Clint Marshall, who is currently based in Hong Kong.
