HSBC Unit CEO Promoted to Sales Post

Barbara Rupf Bee has been promoted from chief executive of HSBC Alternative Investments to the newly created position of global head of institutional sales for HSBC Investments.

Ms. Rupf Bee will be based in London and will oversee the global distribution of HSBC's asset management businesses, including Halbis, Sinopia, and HSBC Multimanager.

Her former job as head of HSBC's fund-of-hedge-funds business went to Nigel Webber, who remains chief investment officer of HSBC Private Bank.

Ms. Rupf Bee joined HSBC Private Bank in 2003 after stints at Union Bancaire Privee and Julius Baer Group.

HSBC Alternative Investments manages approximately $5.5 billion of client assets in funds of funds and segregated accounts. It announced the promotion Wednesday.
