Huntington Names Sandra Pierce to Run Private-Client Business

Huntington Bancshares named FirstMerit executive Sandra Pierce as senior vice president of its private-client group.

Pierce will report to CEO Stephen Steinour and oversee the lender's wealth management, private bank, national settlements and retirement businesses, the Columbus, Ohio-based firm said Wednesday in a statement. Huntington agreed to buy Akron, Ohio-based FirstMerit in January for $3.4 billion.

Pierce, 58, joined FirstMerit in 2013 as CEO of its Michigan operations. She earlier was CEO for Charter One Bank in Michigan, responsible for commercial banking in that state and all activities in Illinois and Ohio, according to the statement.

"Sandy is a very well-known regional banking leader with tremendous drive for results," Steinour, 57, said in the statement. "We have a strong track record of working together in prior roles and a shared commitment to strengthening the Midwest."
