Huntington to Use Popmoney

CashEdge Inc. has landed Huntington National Bank as a customer for its Popmoney person-to-person payments software, the New York vendor said Monday.

Huntington, a subsidiary of the Columbus, Ohio, bank holding company Huntington Bancshares Inc., will offer its customers access to Popmoney through online banking and mobile banking later this year, according to CashEdge.

"Increasingly, our customers are looking for leading-edge online and mobile solutions and more convenience," Jeff Dennes, the senior vice president and director of online and mobile services for Huntington, said in a press release.

Popmoney allows a user to send money to another person using their e-mail address, mobile phone number or bank account information. According to CashEdge, about 200 financial institutions, including six top-20 U.S. banks, offer Popmoney to their customers.

CashEdge processed more than $64 billion in online funds transfers for bank customers in 2010.
