In Brief: Acordia Hires Execs for Boston, Colorado

Acordia Inc., the giant insurance brokerage subsidiary of Wells Fargo & Co., announced Friday that it had hired executives to be the managing directors of its operations in Boston and Colorado.

Walter Wilk Jr., the managing director for Boston, came to Acordia from Marsh Inc., where he also was a managing director. He was the Northeast zone industry practice group leader for Marsh, and was based in Boston. Before that, he was the New York operations risk consulting manager in the company's largest consulting office, responsible for managing performance and the department's profit and loss.

Mr. Wilk has been a senior vice president and vice president at Marsh as well as working at Sheppard Riley Coughlin and Aetna Casualty and Surety Co.

Chris Eldredge, the managing director for Colorado, joined Acordia from Liberty Mutual, where he was regional manager for business sales in the North Texas operation. He also was Liberty Mutual's regional manager for business sales in the Louisiana-Oklahoma-Arkansas region, operations manager in the company's San Antonio office, and middle-market account representative in Denver.

Acordia, headquartered in Chicago, is the world's fifth-largest insurance brokerage and also the largest bank-owned brokerage in the United States, with more than 150 offices and 4,500 insurance professionals in 38 states. Wells is a diversified financial services company with $436 billion of assets; it supplies banking, insurance, investments, mortgage, and consumer finance products to more than 23 million customers through more than 6,000 stores and the Internet.
