American International Group Inc. has promoted the head of a subsidiary to chief operating officer of New York-based AIG's worldwide life insurance business, the company said Monday.
Rodney O. Martin, the new COO, is to remain chairman, president, and CEO of AIG American General Life Cos. and an executive vice president for life insurance, reporting to Edmund S.W. Tse, the parent's senior vice chairman, life insurance.
Mr. Martin was elected executive vice president, life insurance in 2002. He was named president and CEO of AIG American General Life Cos. after AIG's purchase of American General Corp. in 2001.
Previously, Mr. Martin had been senior vice chairman, financial services, with responsibility for American General's life insurance and consumer lending operations. He joined American General in 1995 as president and CEO of its New York life insurance subsidiary.
