In Brief: AIG to Open Second Chinese Office

American International Group Inc. announced that its AIG Global Investment Group received approval to set up an office in Tianjin, China.

The representative office will be AIG's first in the port city of Tianjin and its second in China, the company said Wednesday. The first was established in Shanghai in 2002.

Kevin Chen was appointed chief representative of the Tianjin office, which will work with the city government and local businesses to explore business opportunities for AIG in China.

AIG Global Investment Group, which is based in New York, manages more than $670 billion of assets as of Dec. 31.
