American Equity Investment Life Holding Co. announced Tuesday that its 2005 annuity sales were a record $2.9 billion, or 45% more than in the preceding year.
Fourth-quarter sales were $717.9 million, the West Des Moines, Iowa, company said. It attributed the increase in annual sales to its emphasis on service, growth in its agency force, sound product design, and its market conduct record. American Equity is second in all-time sales of index annuities.
The company said it will announce its fourth-quarter earnings after the markets close on Feb. 22, posting its results on the American Equity Web site.
American Equity Investment Life, through its wholly owned operating subsidiaries, is a full-service underwriter of annuity and insurance products, with an emphasis on the sale of fixed rate and index annuities.
