In Brief: AmeriCredit Starts Canadian Division

AmeriCredit Corp. said it has returned to the Canadian auto loan market by starting a division, AmeriCredit Financial Services Canada Ltd., to be headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario.

The Fort Worth finance company, which announced the division's opening Thursday, said it would provide auto financing through dealers throughout Ontario and into Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and the Atlantic region.

AmeriCredit originated loans in Canada for five years before leaving the market as a result of a company restructuring.
