Davidson Investment Advisors said Wednesday that it had hired an executive from Safeco to be a senior portfolio manager.

The Great Falls, Mont., asset management company said it named Tom Rath to manage its small/mid-cap value investment strategy.
Mr. Rath has worked in the investment business for 20 years, most recently as a portfolio manager at the asset management unit of the insurer Safeco Corp. in Seattle. He is to remain in Seattle, working in Davidson's office there.
The parent Davidson Cos. is an independently owned financial services holding company with headquarters in Montana and operations in 13 states.
