In Brief: ATM Ad Firm Hires Former EDS Executive

SEATTLE - Donald E. Jarecki, the former vice president of the consumer network services division at Electronic Data Systems of Plano, Tex., has joined CashPoint, which sells automated teller machine enhancements, as vice president of network development.

CashPoint describes itself as an "advanced communication" vendor that "bring banks closer to their customers through programs delivered at the ATM." Its services include promotional messages and discount coupons that let banks and third-party advertisers reach ATM customers.

"CashPoint was a pioneer in understanding the viability of the ATM channel and the implications it has for advertising," said J.J. Manning, chairman and chief executive officer of CashPoint.

Mr. Jarecki said CashPoint "will revolutionize the industry, and their operating model will validate the viability of ATM advertising as a significant revenue driver."
