In Brief: Axa CFO Tulin Retiring

Axa Financial Inc. announced Wednesday that Stanley B. Tulin, its vice chairman and chief financial officer, will retire at the end of the year.

Mr. Tulin, 56, is also an executive vice president of Axa Group and a member of the group’s executive committee.

He joined Axa Equitable in 1996 as a senior executive vice president and chief financial officer. In 1997 he became an executive vice president and chief financial officer of Axa Financial, and in 1998 he was named vice chairman and a director of Axa Equitable.

Christopher M. “Kip” Condron, Axa’s president and chief executive officer, said Mr. Tulin will be vice chairman emeritus after his retirement.

Before joining Axa Equitable, Mr. Tulin was a co-chairman of Coopers & Lybrand’s insurance industry practice.

Before joining Coopers & Lybrand, Mr. Tulin worked for Milliman & Robertson Inc. for 17 years, and prior to that he served as the consulting actuary for Baldwin-United Corp. Life Co.

Axa Financial, which is based in New York, had $643.4 billion of assets under management on Dec. 31.
