Columbia Management Group, the investment management arm of Bank of America Corp., announced Monday that it had hired J. Scott Hamilton to be a vice president and senior Taft-Hartley sales and service representative.

Mr. Hamilton is to be based in San Francisco and work to expand Columbia Management’s institutional investment business in the West Coast Taft-Hartley sector. He had worked for the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 38 in San Francisco, where during the last year he helped administer the union’s pension fund.
