Columbia Management, Bank of America Corp.'s investment management arm, has turned to a Fidelity Investments executive to help develop products.
The Boston-based asset management unit of the Charlotte banking company said Tuesday that it had hired William J. Poulin to be its head of product strategy and development. Mr. Poulin, was a vice president of investment product management and development at Fidelity.
Mr. Poulin, who will remain based in Boston, is responsible for Columbia's retail and institutional product strategy and development. He reports to Roger Sayler, who said Mr. Poulin's hiring will help bring Columbia back to full strength after the consolidation of of executive posts in recent years.
Mr. Sayler said Wednesday that Mr. Poulin's "breadth of experience and knowledge is going to help us expand on the retail side of our business and the institutional side. I think more important than any particular area is really the breadth of his background."
Columbia offers products across an array of asset classes and investment styles to both individual and institutional investors. It had $361.1 billion of assets under management at Dec. 31.
