Banc of America Securities said Monday that it had hired Steven R. Winter from Barclays Capital Inc. to be a managing director and the head of fixed-income prime brokerage.

Mr. Winter is based in New York and reports to Christopher Pesce, the Bank of America Corp. unit's global head of prime brokerage. The unit said it has offered prime brokerage services in select areas of fixed income since 2002. Mr. Winter is to lead efforts to expand its prime brokerage services to ultimately include all areas of fixed income.
At Barclays Capital Mr. Winter most recently was North American head of fixed-income prime brokerage and previously was North American head of futures and global head of commodity prime brokerage.
