In Brief: Bank of N.Y. Hired By U.K. Exchange

NEW YORK — Bank of New York announced last week that it had been hired as the clearing agent for Jiway Broker Services of London, the trade clearance arm of Jiway Ltd.

Jiway is the first European electronic stock exchange that allows customers to trade and settle the major equities listed in the U.S. and European markets.

The banking company also announced Friday that its BNY Investment Management Services LLC will open a back-office processing center in Lake Mary, Fla.

Bank of New York said it expects the project to create 330 mutual fund and technology jobs in Central Florida over three years. The company expects to begin hiring mutual fund accounting and application programmers for the center this month.
