Bank of New York has put chief trust officer John M. Dowd in charge of its private bank.
He succeeded Lee Wortham, who got the job in 1999, when he joined the bank. Mr. Wortham left to pursue new opportunities, said a bank spokesman, Kevin Heine.
Mr. Dowd, 41, a managing director, has worked for the bank for 17 years. In his new role, announced Thursday, he is responsible for providing wealth management services to high-net-worth clients, for whom the unit manages and administers more than $60 billion of assets.
Mr. Wortham, 47, came to the bank from Chase Manhattan Corp., now JPMorgan Chase & Co.
