In Brief: Bank One Appoints a New Treasurer

CHICAGO - Michael J. Cavanagh was named the treasurer of Bank One Corp. on Wednesday.

He will report to Charles Scharf, the Chicago company's chief financial officer.

Mr. Cavanagh, 35, came to Bank One last year as senior vice president of strategy and planning. After working for three years in planning and analysis, Mr. Cavanagh served as the chief financial officer of Citibank's consumer group in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. He previously worked at Primerica Corp. and Salomon Smith Barney, both of which are now units of Citigroup Inc.

He succeeded Eileen Kennedy, who decided to leave the company, a Bank One spokesman said. Ms. Kennedy worked at the company for more than 20 years.
