In Brief: Bank One Exec to Be Insurer's CEO

CHICAGO - A Bank One Corp. executive who resigned this month amid the management purge initiated by chairman and chief executive officer James Dimon has landed a new job.

W.G. Jurgensen, who was executive vice president in charge of corporate banking at Bank One, will become the new chief executive officer of Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. and Nationwide Financial Services Inc., the company announced Tuesday. Jurgensen, 48, will succeed Dimon R. McFerson, 63, who announced his retirement from Nationwide.

"Jerry brings tremendous management skills, strategic thinking, and wide-ranging experience, which will provide the leadership for Nationwide to continue on its course toward strong future growth," said Arden Shisler, board chairman of the Columbus, Ohio, company.

Mr. Jurgensen spent eight years as an executive vice president with First Chicago Corp., where he was chief financial officer and led a variety of business units. Before that he worked for 17 years at Norwest Corp.
