WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - BB&T Corp. has chosen Compaq Computer Corp. of Houston to supply it with up to $8 million of desktop PCs, workstations, and monitors over the next two years.
The equipment will be installed at BB&T corporate offices, branches, and several subsidiaries in nine states and the District of Columbia in an upgrade to be completed in early 2003.
BB&T is the 17th-largest financial holding company in the United States. The $63.7 billion-asset company has 929 branches on the East Coast from Alabama to Washington.
