In Brief: Bernanke Set for Hearings on Capitol Hill

Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke will face two Capitol Hill hearings next week on monetary policy.

Mr. Bernanke is scheduled to appear Feb. 14 before the Senate Banking Committee, where Chairman Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., has indicated that he plans to quiz the Fed on efforts to protect consumers from predatory lending practices and for an update of its review of disclosures on credit cards.

The second round for Mr. Bernanke will be Feb. 15 in the House Financial Services Committee. Chairman Barney Frank, D-Mass., has said he wants to hear about the Fed's role in improving income inequality.

The Financial Services Committee will hold a second day of testimony Feb. 16 to hear from expert economists.
