City of Boston Credit Union, located inside City Hall, is seeking permission from state regulators to expand its field of membership to cover three of the state's most populous counties.
If the Department of Banking approves the application, the $200 million-asset credit union could market to residents of Suffolk, Norfolk, and Middlesex counties. More than half of the state's population is in the three counties.
The Department also said Wednesday that the $26 million-asset Premier Source in Springfield has been approved to serve almost 700,000 residents of two western Massachusetts counties, Hampden and Hampshire.
