In Brief: Boston Private Hires New CFO from MFS

Boston Private Financial Holdings Inc. said Thursday that Robert J. Whelan had joined it as chief financial officer.

Mr. Whelan, who had the same job at Massachusetts Financial Services Co., succeeded Walter M. Pressey, who remains Boston Private's president.

The company had $2.9 billion of assets under management and $16.7 billion under advisement on Sept. 30.
