In Brief: Bush Names 5th Finance Board Member

WASHINGTON - President Bush has named John Thomas Korsmo as the fifth member of the Federal Housing Finance Board.

If confirmed, Mr. Korsmo would fill a term that expire Feb. 27. The seat is currently vacant.

Mr. Korsmo has been the president of Korsmo Consulting Services since 1998. Before that he had been the vice president of physician relations and network development for a year at the Dakota Heartland Health System.

He recently resigned from the North Dakota Board of Higher Education, reportedly because he was looking to secure a job with the Bush administration. The White House announced its intent to nominate Mr. Korsmo last week.

Mr. Korsmo is a former chairman of the North Dakota Republican Party and a former candidate for Congress.
