Continuing its expansion into new markets in the Southeast, Cadence Bank of Starkville, Miss., said it plans to open a branch near Nashville.
Cadence, a unit of the $1.4 billion-asset NBC Capital Corp., expanded into the Birmingham, Ala., market in October. NBC's chairman and chief executive, Lewis F. Mallory Jr., said in a press release last week that it picked Williamson County, Tenn., as its newest market, "because of its growth dynamics and its strong economy that is fueling new loan demand."
The branch will open in the Cool Springs area of Williamson County "in the near future," he said.
Cadence has 30 branches, in Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. It said it plans to continue expanding in its current markets and enter other fast-growing ones in the Southeast.
"We are also continuing to review potential acquisition candidates to increase our share in existing markets as well as expand our footprint into new markets," Mr. Mallory said.
