In Brief: Chase’s Merchants<@SM> Get New Web Options

NEW YORK — Chase Merchant Services LLC now offers its merchant customers the option of receiving daily transaction data by e-mail or downloading it from its new customiview.com site.

Merchants that want electronic copies of their daily transaction reports have had the option of making a dial-up connection directly to Chase’s servers for some time. With the new service, Chase becomes the first merchant-acquirer to offer both Web and e-mail delivery.

The new services may mean slight increase in merchant fees, said Diana Mehochko, executive vice president of travel and entertainment division for Chase Merchant Services.

“We don’t look at this as new revenue; it is a value-add,” she said. “I have not seen anything comparable to what we are doing.”

Chase Merchant Services is a joint venture between Chase Merchant Ventures Inc. and First Data Merchant Services. The financial transaction reporting system was developed by TRAP Systems Inc., a subsidiary of HOPS International Inc. of Miami Lakes, Fla.
