In Brief: CheckFree E-Billing For B of A Customers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Bank of America Corp. has moved its electronic billing and payment customers to CheckFree Inc.'s Genesis platform.

It has also started offering the services to customers in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, and Kansas.

Electronic billing and payment was already available to customers in California, Idaho, and Washington, but through a proprietary platform developed by the banking company.

It plans to further expand the service over the next several months. Three million people use its online banking service.

Customers who subscribe to the billing service can use it to view electronic versions of their bills from participating billers and schedule one-time or recurring payment of any bill, whether or not it has been delivered electronically.

The alliance with Atlanta-based CheckFree was announced in April. CheckFree distributes bills for about 210 billers and is working with Bank of America to bring more online.
