Ms. Reimann is set to join the $1.6 trillion-asset New York company Tuesday. Most recently she was a senior vice president and the chief compliance officer at American Express Co. in New York, Citi said in an Aug. 9 memo. Before joining Amex she had held the same titles at Lehman Brothers.

The chief compliance officer position at Citi's global consumer group has been vacant since Pam Kaur left to join Lloyds TSB Group PLC of London in the summer of last year.

An Amex spokeswoman said the company is still searching for Ms. Reimann's successor.

Citi said Ms. Reimann would be in charge of "developing compliance strategy, coordinating the activities of individual business compliance programs, and providing guidance on compliance issues to our business leaders."

She will report to Martin J. Wong, the company's chief compliance officer, and Stephanie Mudick, an executive vice president and the general counsel of the global consumer group.
