Citizens Bancshares Corp. in Atlanta has appointed Cynthia Day as a senior vice president and the chief operating officer.

Ms. Day's appointment was announced Tuesday. She joined the $330 million-asset parent of Citizens Trust Bank in 2003, after it acquired Citizens Federal Savings Bank of Birmingham, Ala. Before the acquisition she had been Citizens Federal's COO.
In her latest job she succeeded Willard Lewis, who spent six years as Citizens Bancshares' COO before resigning in June to join a community bank being formed in the Atlanta area.
