In Brief: Clinton Selects Nominee for FDIC Board

WASHINGTON - President Clinton said Thursday he intends to nominate John M. Reich to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. board.

If approved by the Senate, Mr. Reich would replace current FDIC Vice Chairman Andrew C. "Skip" Hove Jr., whose term expired last Tuesday. Mr. Hove plans to remain until a successor is confirmed.

Mr. Reich is chief of staff for Senator Connie Mack, R-Fla., and the former president and chief executive officer of National Bank of Sarasota and First Commercial Bank in Fort Myers.

The nomination of Arizona banking commissioner Richard C. Houseworth is pending for another FDIC vacancy.
