In Brief: Deutsche Alex. Brown Names W. Coast Exec

Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown, the U.S. investment banking arm of Deutsche Bank AG, said it had named a new regional head of investment banking Friday.

Peter Breck, 43, began last week as head of investment banking for the West Coast, a newly created post that encompasses Deutsche Bank's activities in the health-care, technology, and Internet industries.

Previously the global co-head of consumer and business services investment banking, Mr. Breck's responsibilities include mergers and acquisition advisory, initial public offerings, equity financing and private equity placements, and the 75 investment bankers in the group's office here. --Laura Mandaro
