Dreyfus Corp., Mellon Financial Corp.'s mutual fund arm, announced Monday that it hired Jon Baum as vice chairman of distribution.

In the newly created position, Mr. Baum will oversee distribution to intermediaries of all financial products.
Mr. Baum had been the chief operating officer of Scudder Investments and the chief executive of its distribution company. Previously he was an executive vice president and director of business development for the private client group at UBS Paine Webber.
Dreyfus, which is based in New York, manages $170 billion of mutual funds, separately managed accounts, and institutional portfolios.
