Dreyfus Corp. announced Tuesday that Thomas F. Eggers, who rejoined it as president a year ago, has been promoted to chief operating officer.
Mr. Eggers, who will retain his title as president, is to continue overseeing all sales, direct and through intermediaries; strategic product management and development; as well as marketing. He also is to keep working closely with certain support services aligned with distribution.
"Tom has led Dreyfus' transformation to a customer-focused distribution company," Stephen E. Canter, the mutual fund company's chairman and chief executive officer and a vice chairman of the parent Mellon Financial Corp., said in a press release.
Citing Dreyfus' 2005 distribution success, Mr. Canter said Dreyfus was one of fewer than 20 mutual fund companies nationwide to achieve positive net flows last year in assets under management.
