In Brief: E-Trade Appoints Gramaglia President and Operating Head

MENLO PARK, Ca. -- E-Trade Group on Wednesday named Jerry Gramaglia as president and chief operating officer.

He succeeds Kathy Levinson who is leaving the company "to concentrate on her wide range of philanthropic and community service interests," the online brokerage said. She and Mr. Gramaglia will work together through the end of the fiscal year to ensure a smooth transition.

Mr. Gramaglia had headed the company's marketing, sales and service quality organizations. Michael Sievert is taking over those duties.
