In Brief: E-Trade Stock Slips on Latest Earnings Report

E-Trade Group shares fell $2.8125, to $34.6875 Monday, on news it lost $24.2 million, or 10 cents a share in the company's fiscal third quarter, because of an increase in advertising and technology spending and a slowdown in trading.

On the positive side, E-Trade added some 332,000 accounts, bringing the number of active accounts to 1.24 million.
