The financial software provider eBank Systems Inc. has agreed to resell a biometric check-cashing system developed by Solidus Networks Inc.
EBank, of Lubbock, said Thursday that it would offer Solidus' Paycheck Secure to its customer base of more than 30 community banks.
Paycheck Secure uses the biometric payment system that Solidus markets under its Pay By Touch brand name. Customers enroll in the system by providing a valid identification, such as a driver's license, and by scanning their fingertip, which generates a mathematical algorithm describing their fingerprint. They can authenticate themselves on subsequent visits with just their fingerprint.
Solidus, of San Francisco, said that more than 3 million people have enrolled in Paycheck Secure and that it is available at 2,000 locations in 41 states.
The service "can help banks generate additional noninterest, fee-based revenue while decreasing the risk of fraud," John Rogers, Solidus' founder, chairman, and chief executive, said in a press release.
