Evergreen Investments, the fund management unit of Wachovia Corp., has named Robert Junkin the managing director and lead portfolio manager for its Evergreen Health Care Fund.

Based in Boston, Mr. Junkin joined the company Monday; he reports to Joseph DeSantis, the chief investment officer of Evergreen's fundamental equity group.
Mr. Junkin succeeded Walter McCormick, who has been the fund's interim portfolio manager. To ensure a smooth transition, Mr. McCormick is to co-manage the fund until April 2, when he will resume his roles as head of Evergreen's large-cap value and core equity group and senior portfolio manager.
Evergreen had $273 billion of assets under management on Dec. 31.
