Evergreen Investments, the investment management unit of Wachovia Corp., announced Tuesday that it had hired Peter Cieszko to be president of global distribution, a newly created post.

Mr. Cieszko is to lead the Charlotte mutual fund company's distribution, product, and long-term growth strategies domestically and abroad, including responsibility for Evergreen's retail, high-net-worth, and institutional distribution and product management groups.
He had been head of U.S. distribution at Legg Mason since its purchase of Citigroup Inc.'s asset management business in December.
