The multibank holding company bought the $184 million-asset Citizens Bancorp in Newport last year and the $80 million-asset Citizens Bank in Georgetown the year before. On Wednesday the $1.7 billion-asset Farmers said it has a deal to buy Citizens National Bancshares Inc. in Nicholasville for $30 million in cash and stock.

Citizens is the $153 million-asset parent of the 10-year-old Citizens National Bank of Jessamine County. The four-branch bank would continue to operate under that name.

The deal is expected to close in the third quarter.
