Pyramis Global Advisors, a Fidelity Investments unit, announced Wednesday that it had hired Young D. Chin, the president and chief executive officer of Gartmore Global Investments, to be its chief investment officer.
Filling the new post completes the Boston company’s investment management leadership. Pyramis was created last year by Fidelity to serve institutional investors, and it had $72 billion of assets under management on Dec. 31.
Mr. Chin, a 28-year veteran of the investment management business, will oversee portfolio management, research, and trading. He had led Gartmore Global Investments in Conshohocken, Pa., since 2001.
Mr. Chin’s hiring came after Pyramis added Seema R. Hingorani as director of equity research and Michael P. McCauley as head of trading. Ms. Hingorani co-founded Mirador Capital Management in New York, and Mr. McCauley was the president of Pulse Trading Inc., a direct-access electronic trading firm.
